Rayhouse Road (CR 40) starts here at the low water bridge at Lower Site of the Cache Creek Regional Park. This is where the rafting concession starts its 2 day trips.
Looking north across Cache Creek Canyon toward the south slope of Cortina Ridge. The white flowers are on a blooming California Buckeye.
Lying beyond the blue oak woodland is the steep west slope of Blue Ridge.
As the road climbs higher, the blue oaks are replaced by chaparral.
A fork in the road. Looking south along the left branch toward the Putah Creek drainage. The middle branch goes through the McLaughlin Reserve and the right branch down into the Cache Creek Natural Area.
Cache Creek Natural Area
The Natural Area includes a federally mandated wilderness area which is closed to cycling. Here's the map.
